Thankful -day 20

I'm thankful that I have the freedom to homeschool my kids. I love that they are free to develop their own interests and personalities without someone else telling them it's not ok or not cool. They're not completely free of outside influence, but it's definitely less pronounced than if they were in school.

My daughter loves to cook and sew. So do my boys. My kids all have their own sewing machines actually. My oldest wants to go to culinary school someday. My younger son cut some fabric after tracing his body and made some pajamas without a pattern lol. Today, my oldest wanted to make pumpkin pies from scratch, including the pie crust. I'd never been brave enough to make my own pie crust before, but in home ec at coop he had done so. So that made him an expert lol. He made one crust, and the other son made the other, and we have two pumpkin pies baking! My daughter has her cookie ingredients on the table, ready for baking tomorrow. I love that they not only enjoy cooking and baking, but don't feel pressured not to do something they enjoy based on someone else's opinion.

Thankful- day 16

So much for 30 days of thankful. Looks like it will be random days of thankful during a 30 day period lol.

Today I am thankful for heated seats in my car :) It has been stupid cold, and yesterday added snow onto us as well. I dislike all things cold and snowy, so heading out into the cold parking lot after a night's work and climbing into a cold car and frozen leather seats is not high on my list of favorite things. But once my seat warmers heat up, I am significantly less miserable. And for that I am thankful.

Thankful- day 13

I'm thankful for my wild, crazy kiddos. They somehow manage to both raise my blood pressure to near aneurysm, and melt my heart simultaneously. They're my reason for waking up in the morning, and the reason I am exhausted at night. I'd give anything to just have a freeze frame and stop them from growing up any more than they already have. It has gone by much too quickly.

I'm also thankful that we were fortunate enough to have a photographer come to our homeschool coop and take some pictures of our families and kids. We were long overdue for some new pictures!

Thankful - day 12

Missed a couple days again. It happens. Today I was extremely thankful that I passed an exam in my nursing course. I was quite a but nervous when she started grading them and said that at that point none of the ones she had graded already had passed. I did not get the score I was hoping for, but I did pass. And that's better than the alternative!

Thankful - Day 9

Today I'm thankful for my daughter's cheer family. I'm thankful that my daughter and I have such great cheer sisters and cheer moms in our lives. Competition day is a colossal mixture of excitement, nerves, happiness, sadness, hyperness, sleep-deprivation, and cheer sister bonding. I love that whether we win or lose, they can come off the mat and still sit around a table of a restaurant stunting their stuffed bears and laughing and enjoying being together. Their performance may last only two minutes, but the memories are forever.

Thankful -day 8

Things got a little crazy, and I'm behind. good thing I'm not getting graded or paid on my ability to post daily :)

Today in thankful for rest. This has been a rough week. Month. Something. Between work and clinicals, three days were blended together. Finally, yesterday I was done with both and got to come home and sleep in my bed for the first time in a couple days. I slept all night into much of today. My children are with their dad, so I've had a full day of quiet rest. I needed it so. Tonight I pick up the little cheerleader, and tomorrow she has a cheer competition. So there will be no rest then! But for today....... I rest.

Thankful - day 5

I didn't get a chance to post yesterday, but I did post a thankful post on Facebook.

I am beyond blessed to have some super people in my life. Even when their own crazy life is crashing, I had a shoulder to cry on and an ear to chew off. I only hope that I'm able to be the same for them when they need it.

Thankful - day 4

Today's thankful is short and sweet. I'm thankful I have other options than becoming a cardiac nurse. I would hate being a cardiac nurse, and would probably have a nervous breakdown. Just gotta pass this course and the nclex. Ugh.

Thankful- Day 3

Another day of clinicals down. Today I'm thankful that I finally committed to finishing nursing school, which I started oh so many years ago. I'm thankful that a coworker told me about a new nursing program in town (thanks Lukeyta!!) and that I actually followed through and went to the informational meeting and then applied and was accepted. I'm thankful that so many credits transferred, and that I'm finally almost done. I'll be in my school's second graduating class. Graduation cannot get here soon enough!

Thankful - Day 2

Today I'm thankful that I made the leap from the Catholic Church I randomly attended but never felt a part of, nor ever felt I was "getting" anything out of attending, to start attending a church I love attending and my children are all involved in actively. It makes me happy that they enjoy their various classes and activities and I mostly don't have to force them to go (if only it weren't so EARLY on Sunday!!) They've done service projects, gone on missions trips, made close friends, and learned valuable information both religious and life skill wise. It was definitely the best move I made, switching churches, even though I fretted needlessly over their souls for quite some time as a result of the move LOL (Catholicism may have the corner market on guilt LOL)
